Results are estimates
Every calculator here works from the numbers you type in and the grading scale you select. It has no connection to your school, no access to your transcript, and no way to know the rules your institution actually applies. Two students entering identical grades at different schools can have genuinely different official GPAs, and both would see the same figure here.
Treat what you see as a close estimate for planning purposes. Your official transcript and your registrar's office are the only authority on your real GPA, and you should confirm anything that carries consequences with them before acting on it.
Where the numbers commonly diverge
Several ordinary situations cause a hand calculation to disagree with a transcript. Transfer credits often bring credit hours across without bringing grade points. Repeated courses may replace an earlier grade at one school and be averaged with it at another. Pass or fail classes usually carry credit but no points. Withdrawals normally sit outside the calculation entirely. Some schools weight honors and AP work, others do not, and the size of the bonus varies between districts.
None of these are errors in the tool. They are policy decisions your school has made, and the tool has no way of knowing which apply to you.
This is not advice
Nothing on this site is academic, admissions, financial or legal advice. The written guides describe how grading systems generally work and what students commonly find useful. They are not a substitute for a conversation with an academic advisor, a financial aid officer, an admissions counsellor or your instructor, all of whom know your specific circumstances in a way that a web page cannot.
Decisions about course selection, withdrawals, retakes, scholarship applications and admissions carry real consequences. Please make them with your advisor rather than on the basis of a number produced here.
Accuracy and availability
The tools and guidance are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. We have tested the calculations and check them when the scales change, but we cannot guarantee that the site is free of error or that it will always be available. We accept no liability for any academic, financial or other loss arising from use of this site, including any decision made on the basis of a result it produced.
Your data
The calculators run entirely in your browser. Grades and credit hours you enter are stored on your own device so that a refresh does not lose your work, and they are never transmitted to us. We could not retrieve them if asked. Clearing the data with the button on any calculator, or clearing your browser storage, removes it permanently.
Advertising and outside links
This site carries advertising, and some pages link to other websites. We do not control that material and are not responsible for the content, accuracy or practices of anywhere you go after leaving this site. An advertisement appearing here is not an endorsement.
